A lot of other things happened too but because it was our biggest fall since May the rain puts everything else in the shade.
Rain dominates the thoughts of farmers everywhere and in those fondly-remembered pre-internet days we would watch the nightly weather report and hope for a blue L drifting closer to our corner of New South Wales.
Now, progress means we can stare at our phones hoping for the chance of rain to appear a week in the future. Check again the next day and the next trying to divine if it is real this time - is the chance trending up or were the forecasters overly-optimistic?
If the forecast still shows rain a day or two out feelings of entitlement begin to take over but there is always the possibility of betrayal if the promised rain fades away.
This time, thankfully, it did not.
