Ibis everywhere

Ibis everywhere

Our farm has welcomed hundreds of summer visitors in the form of straw-necked ibis.

Individuals are a common sight year round but as their wetland homes have become less wet they have travelled east in number in search of food. Our mob of cattle have unwittingly provided them with a banquet.

Flocks hundreds-strong ibis have been following the cattle and as the mob moves each morning the birds swoop in and eat their fill of newly exposed grasshoppers, dung beetles and other tasty morsels.
