There is no shortage of insects on the farm. Flies and dung beetles following the animals, bees, wasps and ants creating and tiny insects sneaking through fly screens.
I saw none of these while camping over the weekend. No insects meant no small birds that prey upon them. The trees were full of cockatoos and galahs that could forage in the surrounding farm land but the campground itself was a biological desert.
I don’t know the cause but it was striking.
