Welcoming Autumn

The seasons progress completely ignorant of our calendar. This time around summer seemed to stretch across all of March and flirted with April but it feels like a distant memory now.

Rain has softened the edges, tempting mushrooms out of their underground haunts and the first frosts of the year have announced themselves.

Conditions are ideal for all animals, both domesticated and wild. I am not arrogant enough to think that the environment we share here is more conducive to life than it was a million years ago but I like to think we are steadily moving in that direction, year after year.
